Join the community.
Open to every HKU student, any year and any major. Join the community channels, come to an info session, take the selection contest, then train weekly and compete with HKU.

How it works
There is no application form and no minimum rating. There is a weekly session, and a seat for you.
Come to an info session
At the start of the season we explain how training works, what the contest calendar looks like and how selection fits together. The 2026–27 info session is on 9 September 2026; view the slides.
Take the selection contest
Selection contests usually run for 2.5 hours and are used to place contestants into squads. They are a placement exercise, not an entrance exam. Whether or not you are selected for an HKU team, you can take part in the training and other activities that follow. The 2026–27 contest was held on 20 September 2026, and the problems are available in the Codeforces group.
Join the training
Training runs weekly during term and usually takes place on Virtual Judge. Sessions cover theory, problem solving and contest simulations, and are open to everyone who wants to improve.
Compete
Selected squads represent HKU at ICPC and CCPC regionals and finals, the ACM-HK Programming Contest, and other regional and open contests. Everyone can also take part in virtual contests and internal competitions.
